Puppy Development Process
At Bestland, we believe that raising Australian Labradoodle puppies isn’t just about breeding — it’s about building the foundation for a lifetime of love, trust, and companionship. That’s why our puppy development process is rooted in proven techniques, gentle guidance, and family-centered care every step of the way.
Here’s how we help every Bestland puppy grow into a calm, confident, well-socialized family member.
Week 1–2: A Gentle Welcome to the World
Newborn puppies arrive in a safe, cozy, temperature-controlled space within our home-like facilities. This whelping area is designed to offer security, quiet, and warmth — both physical and emotional.
During these first few weeks, our focus is entirely on:
- Bonding with mom
- Daily weight checks to monitor health
- Tactile human handling for early comfort
- Keeping the environment calm and clean
This is when we begin Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) — a series of light touches and movements that promote brain development, stress tolerance, and better cardiovascular health.
Week 3–4: Awakening Senses & Social Awareness
As their eyes open and ears begin to function, the puppies become more curious about the world. This is when we introduce:
- Soft sounds and background noise like music and household ambiance
- Different textures under their paws
- Human interaction from our children and family
- New gentle handling exercises to prepare for grooming and vet visits
They begin transitioning from nursing to soft puppy mush, setting the stage for healthy digestion and future training.
Week 5–6: Confidence Building Through Exploration
By now, the pups are wiggly, playful, and ready for enrichment! This is when our socialization process truly blossoms. We provide:
- Age-appropriate toys to develop motor skills and bite inhibition
- Small obstacle courses for physical and mental stimulation
- Exposure to different people, including kids, adults, and visitors
- Continued crate training and early potty training habits
- Puppy grooming exposure (brushing, nail trimming, and light baths)
This is the time when personalities start to shine, and we begin closely matching temperament with potential families.
Week 7–8: Ready for Forever Families
As they approach 8 weeks, the puppies are preparing for their transition home. We ensure they’re emotionally ready and behaviorally sound by focusing on:
- Positive reinforcement and early training basics
- Car rides and short adventures to desensitize to travel
- Introduction to leash and collar
- Final vet checks, deworming, and vaccinations
- Preparing their “Bestland Puppy Layette”, which includes food, treats, a blanket with mom’s scent, and a training guide
Each puppy receives individualized attention and assessments before going home, and we provide detailed adoption support materials to help families continue the positive journey.
Continued Support & Education
We don’t stop caring once a puppy leaves our home. Families receive:
- A customized puppy guide
- Access to recommended training resources
- Continued communication and support from us
- Invitations to join our alumni community and share updates!
A Different Kind of Breeding Experience
What makes our program different? Simply put: we raise puppies as if they were our own.
Marcela, Jeremy, and our five children are hands-on from day one. The puppies hear laughter, experience gentle play, and learn how to bond with humans through kindness and consistency.
We don’t believe in mass production or kennel living. Every Bestland puppy is born into a warm, loving environment where trust is built from the start — and that’s what sets the foundation for success in their new homes.
Why It Matters
Many behavioral issues later in life can be traced back to poor early development. Our structured yet loving approach ensures our puppies leave Bestland:
- Emotionally stable
- Well-socialized
- Confident around people and new experiences
- Physically healthy and ready for training
We take pride in sending home puppies that are ready to love and be loved — for life.
